AirPhil Express flight 2P 974 - 14 hours delayed - then cancelled

Another example of why you should not even try to fly with AirPhil Express. Right from the start, Airphil should have just cancelled their flights that day like one of the carriers did. (Cebu pacific covered the hotel accomodation of their passengers). Perhaps Airphil Express does not think their customers are that valuable that they should provide such compensation.

What to expect with Airphil Express

I used to fly with Philippine airlines / Airphil Express a lot, but these past few months their services have been terrible. I wrote this blog to help warn people about these things that are becoming quite common with Airphil Express.


What to expect:


Lost or Damaged baggage - with my last five flights with them, they lost my baggage twice, and damaged three times in a row. I was so mad at what happened and demanded compensation for the mishandling of my baggage. I did not really expect any monetary exchange for what happened, but instead a sincere apology for the unfortunate incident. But what did I get in return? they giggled at me for being furious and even joked among themselves about what happened. Not to mention, no compensation of any sort was given.


Delayed or Canceled flights - This is by far the most common thing to expect with Air Philippines. Like what I mentioned above, they will not compensate for these things. So you have to be ready to re-book your hotel for another night because most often than not, your flight will be canceled or delayed by several hours (you will be very lucky if it's only delayed and not canceled).


Bad customer service - among the carriers in the Philippines, their crew has evolved into a passive, insulting people I have ever faced in the history of the passenger craft business. A couple of times,  I arrived at the terminal an hour and a half before my flight and no one was in the check-in area until it was only 30 minutes before boarding. Then when they came in, they said, "oh you are already late for allowed check in time which is 45 minutes before the boarding time". Whaattt?????? they were not there and I was late?? You may not think this is possible , but believe me , these things happen with Air Philippines (It happened to me twice at the Mactan airport in Cebu, Philippines). The same girl talked to me - oh man how I hate it when I remember her face. By the way, they did not refund my ticket nor can I have it re-booked (forfeited).

Uncomfortable Ride - If you check out their commercials, it may seem that you are going to have a very smooth and worry free ride, but in reality, you will be looking old and worn down equipments (probably bought by the company 3rd hand). It even has a smell of an old car left in the junkyard for some time.


These are things that I experienced when flying with Air Philippines. You may or may not believe it, but it happened to me too many times until I finally gave up with them and switched to other carriers.  There is something seriously wrong with this airline company and it needs a huge change in order for their old customers to come back. So if you are planning to travel to the Philippines, watch out for this carrier. Might save you a lot of headache.
